Cowboys vs. Cardinals: Score, live updates for Monday night game in Arizona | NFL Sport News

Week 3 of the NFL season will conclude with a Monday night matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals.

The Cowboys enter the game coming off a 42-17 loss to the Broncos in Denver. In that game, Dak Prescott threw two interceptions and Ezekiel Elliott tallied 8 yards rushing on nine carries. Dallas topped the Giants 19-3 to open its season.

After falling to the Lions in Week 1, Arizona rebounded with a 16-13 overtime victory against the Colts in Week 2. The Cardinals’ defense held Indianapolis to 266 total yards in the win.

Cowboys vs. Cardinals: Score, live updates

10:55 p.m.: Touchdown Cowboys. Dallas retakes the lead. Arizona brought pressure but Prescott escaped and scrambled to his right. Nearing the sideline, Prescott launched a 37-yard pass to the end zone that Brice Butler hauled in for the score. Dallas now leads 21-14. 

10:50 p.m.: During the third quarter, Fitzgerald moved into eighth place on the NFL’s all-time receiving yards list. 

10:47 p.m.: Dallas brings pressure on third-and-1, forcing a Palmer incompletion. The Cowboys take over with great field position near midfield 15 seconds into the fourth quarter. 

End of third quarter: Cowboys 14, Cardinals 14 

10:42 p.m.: After tying the score, the Cardinals force a three-and-out and now have a chance to take the lead. They’ll get the ball back with 1:07 remaining in the quarter.

10:36 p.m.: Touchdown Cardinals. Arizona ties the score at 14-14 after Palmer found Fitzgerald open in the right corner of the end zone for a 15-yard score. The catch was Fitzgerald’s 10th of the game.

10:33 p.m.: Larry Fitzgerald hauls in a 37-yard pass, his ninth catch of the game, to put Arizona in a position to tie the score.

10:31 p.m.: Dallas quickly goes three-and-out and Arizona will take over at the Cowboys 46 trailing by a touchdown with 4:45 remaining in the quarter. 

10:25 p.m.: On third and seven, rookie cornerback Jourdan Lewis breaks up a pass to Jaron Brown that would have given Arizona a first down. Instead, the Cardinals are forced to punt and Dallas regains possession. 

10:13 p.m.: Touchdown Cowboys. Dallas takes its first lead of the game. After three runs from Elliott brought the Cowboys to the Arizona 15, Prescott found Dez Bryant in the middle of the field. Bryant turned up field, eluded two tacklers and ran into a pile of Arizona defenders near the 2-yard line. The Cardinals failed to bring Bryant down as he pushed his way into the end zone to complete the highlight reel play. Dallas now leads 14-7. 

10:08 p.m.: Arizona opens the second half with a three-and-out. Dallas recorded its third sack of the game on the drive. The Cowboys will take over with good field possession at the Arizona 46.  

10:02 p.m.: Dallas picks up one first down on a 22-yard Prescott completion to Terrance Williams, but its drive stalls near midfield. Following a punt, Arizona will start its first second half possession from the 7. 

9:58 p.m.: We’re back in Arizona. Dallas receives the kickoff and will take the half’s first possession at its own 25-yard line. 

Halftime: Cowboys 7, Cardinals 7

9:45 p.m.: The Cardinals and Cowboys head into the locker room tied at 7-7. Arizona dominated the first quarter and strung together two long possessions, but only managed to come away with a touchdown. Dallas finally found a rhythm offensively in the second quarter and evened the score. The Cowboys still, however, have only tallied 57 total yards.  

9:38 p.m.: Touchdown Cowboys. Dallas ties it at 7-7 with just over a minute remaining in the half. Prescott ran a zone read, kept the ball and scrambled to the goal line, where he met a Cardinals defender. But Prescott leapt over the would-be tackler and fell into the end zone.

9:33 p.m.: We’ve arrived at the two-minute warning in Arizona with the Cardinals lead 7-0. After a good return from Ryan Switzer, Dallas will have the ball in Arizona territory following the timeout. 

9:26 p.m.: Dallas drives into Arizona territory for the first time, but comes away with no points. On third down, Chandler Jones sacked Prescott for a 9-yard loss, which pushed Dallas out of field goal range. The Cowboys were forced to punt, and Arizona will take over at its own 10.

9:20 p.m.: Dallas picks up its first first down of the night. On third-and-1, Elliott takes a handoff, bursts through the line of scrimmage and gains 30 yards. 

9:15 p.m.: Cardinals advance to the Dallas 40 but fail to get any further and the Cowboys will start their drive near the 5-yard line. Dallas has had the ball for just 3:27 so far, but only trail 7-0. 

9:09 p.m.: Dallas goes three-and-out again. The Cowboys have run six offensive plays so far and have tallied just four total yards. 

9:06 p.m.: Cardinals come away with no points on their second drive. Palmer had found Brown for another touchdown, but the score was waved off because of a holding penalty. After Palmer was brought down on a scramble for no gain, Phil Dawson entered to attempt a field goal. But, Dawson missed wide right an the score remains 7-0.  

End of first quarter: Cardinals 7, Cowboys 0

9:03 p.m.: The Cardinals dominate the games opening 15 minutes. Arizona already leads by a touchdown and play will resume with the Cardinals in the red zone. Arizona held possession for 13:06 and tallied eight first downs, compared to zero from the Cowboys. Palmer finished the quarter with 135 yards and a touchdown, while receiver Larry Fitzgerald has already caught six passes.

8:57 p.m.: The Cardinals hand it off to Chris Johnson, who fails to pick up the first down. But the Cowboys lined-up offside and are called for a penalty, prolonging Arizona’s drive. 

8:56 p.m.: Palmer is now nine-for-nine on pass attempts. The Cardinals are facing a fourth-and-1 at the Cowboys 40-yard line.

8:48 p.m.: Carson Palmer has completed his first seven passes of the game. He already has 98 yards and a touchdown nine minutes into the first quarter. 

8:44 p.m.: Dallas’ opening possession lasts just three plays. Ezekiel Elliott takes two handoffs that both fail to gain a yard before Dak Prescott completes a short pass, forcing a punt. 

8:37 p.m.: Touchdown Cardinals. Arizona marches down the field and scores on its opening possession to take a 7-0 lead. After driving to the Cowboys 25, the Cardinals faced a third-and-11. On that play, Carson Palmer dropped back and found Jaron Brown for a 25-yard touchdown reception. The Cardinals registered three plays that went for 20 yards or more on the drive. 

8:31 p.m.: We’re underway in Arizona. The Cardinals win the toss and receiver the opening kickoff. 

8:25 p.m.: The Cowboys lock arms and take a knee in the middle of the field prior to the National Anthem, then walk back to the sidelines and continue to lock arms. The Cardinals also lock arms in their end zone. Jerry Jones joined the Cowboys when they took a knee at midfield and throughout the anthem.
