Eduardo Nunez is headed to Boston.
After scouting the All-Star third baseman before next week’s trade deadline, the Red Sox dealt two minor league pitchers to the struggling Giants for Nunez’s rights the remainder of the season.

An All-Star in 2016, Nunez is batting .308/.334/.417 with 17 stolen bases this season and will fill a glaring hole at the hot corner for the Red Sox, which parted ways with Pablo Sandoval earlier this month and are looking for veteran experience alongside prospect Rafael Devers.
Nunez, a free agent in 2018, was spotted hugging his Giants teammates after leaving Tuesday’s game against the Pirates.

Sandoval, who signed a contract to return to San Francisco, is expected to be promoted from Triple-A Sacremento to fill Nunez’s spot.
