WWE No Mercy 2017 results

10:24 p.m.: The Miz is in the back talking with Kurt Angle and says he wants to have a special edition of Miz TV on Raw Monday night with special guest Roman Reigns. The IC champ says that Reigns’ win is on the same level as beating Undertaker this past WrestleMania and he wants to ask him the hard questions. Angle agrees and says that will kick off Raw.

10:21 p.m.: Even more afterward as Cena bows to the crowd as fans chant “Thank You Cena”. He goes ringside and hugs a young fan and gives him one of his sweatbands. On his way up the ramp, he salutes the crowd and then throws his hands up in the air as he walks off.

This is being done to make you feel like Cena could retire but he’s not done yet. he did say recently on the Edge and Christian podcast that his body is starting to break down and when he can’t go at a top level anymore, he’ll stop rather than being less than 100%. He’ll likely be taking some time off to work on some movie projects such as the next Transformers movie but I’d expect him back in early 2018 if not by WrestleMania 33 in early April.

Roman Reigns defeats John Cena

10:15 p.m. FINISH: Back in the ring and Cena gets control, hits an AA, rolls through and hits a second one and Reigns barely kicks out. Cena is in utter shock and isn’t sure what it will take to keep Reigns down. Reigns gets to his feet, connects with a Superman punch that staggers Cena and follows it up with a spear for the win.

After the match, Cena holds up Reigns arm and then whispers something in his ear. Reigns heads up the ramp as Cena slumps down in a corner with a grin on his face. Good match bt a bit strange that Reigns kicked out of Cena’s finisher multiple times and then won the match by hitting his finisher just once. This was definitely booked as a “passing of the torch” match and Cena gave him everything.

10:10 p.m.: A frustrated Cena clears out the announce tables and drags Reigns outside the ring. The two are standing on a table and Cena goes for the AA but Reigns slides out to his feet and drives Cena through another table with a thunderous spear. Nasty bump by Reigns who lands hard on his neck.

10:08 p.m.: Reigns charges hard with a spear but Cena sidesteps him and he goes hard into the corner. Cena puts Reigns on the top rope and lands a super-AA but ROMAN REIGNS KICKS OUT!!!

10:05 p.m.: They exchange punches before Reigns comes flying off the ropes. Cena catches him, tosses him up on his shoulders and connects with the AA. He makes the cover and Reigns kicks out at the last second. Cena goes to the top rope and comes flying off but Reigns catches him in mid-flight and powerslams him but can’t get the three count. Super man punch and Cena survives again.

10:02 p.m.: Cena can’t seem to get anything done before he hits a pair of shoulder tackles. He’s teases going for the Five Knuckle Shuffle but Reigns fires back. Cena finally hits the move but Reigns is quickly back in control. And now he’s cocked and ready for the Superman punch but Cena ducks and locks him in the STF. Reigns powers up and connects with a sitdown powerbomb but Cena kicks out of the pin. The story so far is Cena is a step off and Reigns has a counter for everything.

9:57 p.m.: It’s all Reigns early as he’s overpowering Cena, throwing him shoulder-first into the ring steps before getting a two-count. Reigns is taking his time and taunting Cena, punching him square in the face. It’s a slow, methodical match built on crowd reaction and emotion.

9:52 p.m.: First-time ever for Cena vs. Reigns in a one-on-one match. The two stare off before the match and the bell rings. Here we go! Reigns with a big shoulder tackle and Cena has a smirk on his face. The crowd is booing Cena who and he teases the crowd saying that he’ll leave. They want him to go so Cena obliges and begins walking to the back before Reigns gets his and throws him back in the ring.

9:48 p.m.: After booing Cena, the crowd quickly realized they dislike Reigns more and they cheer the former 16-time champ. Reigns’ music hits and thunderous boos erupt in the Staples Center. The Big Dog is not welcomes in “his” yard. Great atmosphere even before the match begins.

9:45 p.m.: It’s being billed as the first of two WrestleMania-worthy matches as two of the most polarizing stars in the WWE are set to square off. Big match John is ready to go and getting booed big-time.

9:40 p.m.: Before our next match, there’s this. Ever heard of a face only a mother could love?

Alexa Bliss defeats Sasha Banks, Bayley, Nia Jax and Lana in a Fatal 5-Way to retain the Raw Women’s Championship

9:36 p.m FINISH.: Both Sasha and Bayley are trying to pin the champ but theyir stopping one another dor getting the win. And here comes Nia back from the dead! She comes charging hard but misses Bliss and goes shoulder first into the corner. Bliss then throws Bayley into Emma and then hits the hugger with a big DDT to retain her championship.

Afterwards, Renee Young speaks with the champ who says,” There’s a lot of stars out here in Los Angeles but there’s only one true goddess — Alexa Bliss!”

9:32 p.m.: This match has been all about how physically imposing Nia is and how she can be stopped. One way is the other women teaming up and throwing her out of the ring. A few minutes later, Nia is back on the apron but Emma slides through her legs and tries to hit a powerbomb on the floor but she’s not strong enough to overpower NIa. Baylet tries to help and still no. Then Alexa and Sasha help out with drop kicks and Nia goes down hard.

9:29 p.m.: Nia Jax is screaming at Alexa Bliss and the champ tilts around her and goes for a DDT but Nia won’t have anything of it and power Bliss into the corner. She stacks up Bliss and Sasha on her shoulders and delivers a double Samoan drop. Impressive.

9:25 p.m.: Early on, it’s a triple dropkick to Nia Jax to put her out of the ring to the floor. Emma gets tossed and now it’s just BFF’s Sasha and Bayley in the ring. Not much there before Sasha gets thrown to the floor. Just a tease between the two.

9:23 p.m.: I don’t think anyone has ever been more excited to see Sasha Banks come out as Michael Cole who screams “IT’S BOSS TIME!!!!!” Slow your roll, MC.

Seth Ambrose and Dean Ambrose defeat Sheamus and Cesaro to retain the Raw Tag Team Championship

9:15 p.m. FINISH: Great series as Sheamus hits White Noise on Ambrose and then Cesaro powerbombs Rollins on top of him. Cesaro goes for the cover but Ambrose somehow kicks out to the roar of the crowd. Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick on Ambrose who ducks. Rollins is hold Cesaro’s leg and he can’t move out of the way and takes the shot then falling to the floor. Rollins with King’s Landing (high knee) and then Ambrose with Dirty Deeds and it’s all over. Awesome sequence and a great match. Kudos to Cesaro who battled almost that whole match after busting his front teeth and bleeding all over the place.

9:09 p.m.: Cesaro puts Ambrose in the Sharpshooter and then transitions into a crossface. The “Swiss Superman” looks like complete savage but Ambrose gets to the ropes.

9:07 p.m.: Cesaro is an animal and he doesn’t slow one but despite being a bloody and toothless mess. Ambrose is running wild including a big dive. Sheamus tries to connect with white noise off the top rope but Ambrose shoves him off and hits a big elbow. Ambrose is now selling a shoulder injury.

9:04 p.m.: Ambrose slingshots Cesaro face-first into the turnbuckle and Corey Graves says he may have lost a tooth which Michael Cole didn’t really believe. He makes the tag to Rollins who is on fire. Cesaro is a bloody mess and Cole finally believes that Cesaro lost a tooth. No, he lost teeth.

9:00 p.m.: Cesaro with a boot to the face of Ambrose but he somehow kicks out at two. Sheamus tags in and he’s manhandling Ambrose now, targeting his left arm.

8:57 p.m.: The challengers are smashing their opponents outside the ring early including this:

8:53 p.m.: I feel confident in saying that the streak of good matches is going to continue to start this show. In fact, this match should be fantastic. These teams have great chemistry and this shold be a lot of fun.

Finn Balor beats Bray Wyatt

8:46 p.m. FINISH: Wyatt is in firm control now taking his time, hitting big moves and stalking Balor. But here comes Balor fighting back, he hits the Coup de Gras and overcomes a rib injury to get the win. 2-for-2 on good matches and No Marcy is off to a great start.

8:42 p.m.: The announcers are selling that Balor is a step slow due to his injured ribs. He gets back to the top rope and connects with a Coup de Gras to the back of Wyatt’s head but he’s delayed in making the cover and Wyatt survives. A minute later, he hits a huge lariat and nearly takes Balor out of his boots.

8:39 p.m.: Correction: apparently Balor’s trunks are gray or at least the fans in attendance think so as they chant “Gray Balor”. Balor takes a trick out of the Fit Finlay playbook and uses the ring apron to trap Wyatt. He goes to the top rope and Wyatt goes with the crab pose and Balor is spooked. He didn’t see that coming?

8:36 p.m.: Balor was on the offensive for a moment before Wyatt cracked him in his injured ribs to slow him down. He then hits a superplex and later drives Balor shoulder-first into the ring apron.

8:33 p.m.: Wyatt gets on the mic and says, “Look what I just did to your hero. Run away coward!” He refers to himself as a god and says that Balor isn’t a demon or even a man, he’s a coward. And here comes Balor and he’s ready to fight. We’ve got a match!

8:31 p.m.: Balor is sporting new powder blue trunks and pads rather than his typical black. Even before the match stars, Wyatt jumps him from behind and is pummeling him outside the ring. Balor is selling a rib injury with officials attending to him as Wyatt poses in the ring. Can he continue? Will this match happen?

8:25 p.m.: As Michael Cole explains, this is a SummerSlam rematch of sorts as Balor in his alter ego as The Demon beat Wyatt. This is different because now Wyatt is facing just Balor the man. Got it?

The Miz defeats Jason Jordan to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship

8:19 p.m. FINISH: Rookie mistake as Jordan takes his eye off The Miz to knock Bo Dallas off the top rope. He rolls up Miz but the referee is trying to get Dallas out of the ring. Miz pushes Jordan off and Curtis Axel hits him with a cheap shot and the champ hits the Skull Crushing Finale for the win.

After the match, Jordan talks with Renee Young and says he couldn’t overcome the odds and wants a rematch before adding that “tonight, The Miz sucks”. Booker T gets in the last word on commentary saying, “get in the back of the line, kid.”

8:17 p.m.: Jordan hits two more suplexes but can’t score the pin. He slaps on a crossface but the champ won’t give up and barely gets to the ropes to the fans’ delight.

8:16 p.m.: The A-lister connects with a series of “Yes” kicks but Jordan catches the last one and connects with another suplex to a round of boos. The crowd does not like the challenger one bit.

8:12 p.m.: Jason Jordan with a beautiful Northern Lights suplex for a two-count. He’s a really good wrestler and hits some of the best suplexes around. The Miz with a big DDT but Jordan kicks out at the last second and the champ is feeling good about himself.

8:10 p.m.: Apparently The Miz dedicated this match to his unborn child. Sure. BTW, congrats to Mike and his better half!

8:05 p.m.: Time to begin No Mercy and The Miz gets a huge ovation from the L.A. crowd. What’s not to love about the IC champ and his Miztourage?

WWE No Mercy kickoff show results

7:58 p.m.: Most think that Brock Lesnar will beat Braun Strowman tonight but I think the “Monster Among Men” is taking it. I could easily be wrong but let me argue my case. If Strowman wins, that means the Universal Champion would be on the show every week unlike Lesnar as champ since he is a part-time performer. It would also add quite a wrinkle in the formula because Lesnar would then have to come back to prove himself, a position we haven’t seen him in before. I think that’s intriguing with Lesnar taking time off an coming back early next year on a quest to prove he can beat Strowman.

Still, Paul Heyman is saying that Strowman is bigger and stronger and that his client is the real underdog this match. Heyman typically wouldn’t sell it this big unless Lesnar was winning to make his victory mean that much more. Lots of intrigue and we’ll see where this goes. I’m just hoping for a great show.

Elias defeats Apollo Crews

7:48 p.m. FINSH: Crews was in control showing off his athleticism but one wrong move and Elias take advantage, hitting the Drift Away to score the win. Now let’s go walk with Elias!

7:43 p.m.: Crews in control early before Elias takes his feet out from under him and turns the tide. Let’s take a commercial break to see a promo for No Mercy which you’re already watching.

7:38 p.m.: Time for the kickoff match but first, Elias sings a little ditty. Who wants to talk with Elias?! He’s says that L.A. is called the “City of Angels” yet he feels like he’s in hell.

7:35 p.m.: Some breaking news as WWE announces that Asuka will make her Raw debut at next month’s TLC event.

7:30 p.m.: Time to go to the social media lounge with special guest Alexa Bliss. She’s excited about Asuka joining the Raw brand adding that the former NXT champion has never faced a “goddess”. Charley reads a proposal from a fan and Alexa quickly turns it down and Charley is trying to make an argument for why she should marry the guy. Right…

7:27 p.m.: Neville cuts a promo talking about how this won’t be a competive match with Enzo who is nothing more than an “entertainer”. What an amazing turnaround for Neville who was lost in the shuffle to start the year to now one of the better heels in the company and riding high as the Cruiserweight champion.

7:21 p.m.: Winter is coming, er, war is coming at No Mercy.

7:16 p.m.: Raw GM Kurt Angle joined the kickoff broadcast team and The Miz crashed the party. Great stuff as always as he said Angle can hold up a kleenex when his son Jason Jordan can blow into tonight when he makes him cry. “I am The Miz, the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all-time. Tonight, you will see me retain it against your loser son!”

Get your popcorn – that’s fighting words!

7:13 p.m.: Before the big matches tonight, take part in this poll regarding the big two matches.

7:09 p.m.: You wouldn’t want to run into this guy in a dark alley.

7:05 p.m.: Originally the big main event tonight between Lesnar and Strowman was supposed to take place at SummerSlam in August. However, Strowman got injured and WWE wasn’t sure if he’d be back in time. Instead, they left it open and it was a Fatal Four-Way that did include Strowman who slammer Lesnar not once but twice through an announcer’s table and tipped another one over on “The Beast”.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m still not exactly sure why WWE is giving this match away now rather than waiting until WrestleMania to have the first one-on-one match between these monsters. But this is the route they want to go and we get to see it tonight.

7:00 p.m.: It’s time for No Mercy and live coverage on Sporting News! The kickoff show is underway. Reminder to follow Sporting News’ wrestling coverage on Twitter @SN_wrestling.
